MR. PHINIZY (AUTHOR)
A seasoned artist and Bronx native, started his creative journey teaching preschool on Park Avenue. His zany comedic spirit and sassy edge endeared him as “Mr. Phinizy” to kids, fellow teachers, and parents. After teach- ing countless children and mentoring parents around New York, Mr. Phinizy is finally bringing his words, his songs, and his inclusive NYC brand to life. The first stop is a witty and vivid children’s book called The Adventures of Pretzel Boy, inspired by his love of New York City and hip hop rhyming patterns. The book features the spunky, lovable, and ed- ible character, Pretzel Boy. Mr. Phinizy lives in New York City, where his book, like the titular character, is already taking Man- hattan by storm! Next stop, the world!
KISHA DAWKINS (PUBLISHING DIRECTOR )
Kisha Dawkins, a New Jersey native with a passion for art, community, and children collaborated with James Phinizy on the development of The Adventures of Pretzel Boy children’s book by leading Pure-heart Unlimited Media’s Publishing team . Kisha’s background in leading programs and corporate brand management, spear headed the development of the Pretzel Boy product. The inspiration behind her involvement in The Adventures of Pretzel Boy, she says is, “I’m an aunt of 10, children, they continue to be my main source of motivation.” Kisha adds, “Watching them and imagining any child trying to maneuver in a world that adults struggle in, puts a responsibility on creatives in business serving the children’s industry. That’s where the Author and I share a similar vision for the world concerning children. I’ve managed many projects and programs as a career choice, The Adventures of Pretzel Boy has a deeper meaning to me. There’s a whole intention of empowering children and shaping how they think and feel about themselves, in a way they can identify with.” She adds, “In this day and age, it’s not an option for those in leadership anymore; it’s a necessity.”
ONGA KORNILOV (ILLUSTRATOR)
Is a talented artist from the city of Odesa, Ukraine. He credits his family for being his main motivators and muses. In fact, Onga says on illustrating The Adventures of Pretzel Boy, “All of my illustrations were under the strict super- vision of Nadin; I listen to her opinion. She has been my art direc- tor and biggest critic for five years, which is funny because she is only five years old.
